One thing that my "normie" friends and family cannot seem to get their head around is that being transgender is not a matter of choice.
I have heard them say "why did you choose to be a girl" or "why do you want to be a girl" many times and I have tried to explain until I am blue in the face that it's not a matter of choice.
I did not choose to be transgender.
Yes, I did not sit down one day with a smoke and an ice cold brew and say to myself "Hmm, that looks like a lot of fun. I think I'll give it a go."
Like so many parts of my life from the color of my skin to the color and shape of my eyes, I did not get a choice in the matter.
Granted, I did not become aware that something was wrong with this picture until my seventh birthday. It was only then that I said to myself that someone somewhere goofed when this particular puzzle was printed, cut and put in the box. Somehow the picture on the outside just didn't match the one on the inside.

Over and over I have found numerous posts and articles written by those like me who say the same dam thing. We did not choose this.
Why is it so hard for everyone to believe? If you are left handed I guess it's your fault? Just like it's your fault if you have big legs or male pattern baldness. Big boobs and red hair must also be something you did wrong, right?
No, I think everyone needs to take a step back and look at this problem as though it were you facing this question.
Only then we we see any sympathy on the subject.
BTW, my Drill Instructor use to tell me "If you are looking for sympathy, you can find it. It's in the dictionary between shit and syphilis..
